Why This Project Matters

In the fast-growing TravelTech industry, trust is everything. The company behind Tryp.com, an innovative online travel platform serving over 2.5 million users across Europe, faced a key entrepreneurial challenge — how to scale responsibly while protecting user data and maintaining transparency.

As the platform expanded, it handled increasing amounts of sensitive information — from travel preferences to payment details. Meeting GDPR requirements was not just a legal necessity but a strategic opportunity to build credibility, strengthen brand reputation, and ensure long-term sustainability.

This project set out to transform compliance into a competitive advantage, embedding digital responsibility into the company’s core business strategy.

Our Approach

With support from Aalborg Institute for Development through SMV:Digital, Tryp.com launched a comprehensive project to strengthen digital responsibility:

  • Risk & Vulnerability Assessment – a complete review of systems, processes, and data handling practices to identify gaps and risks.

  • Action Plan for GDPR Compliance – structured improvements to data collection, storage, and processing workflows.

  • Policy & Procedure Updates – revising and implementing internal guidelines to ensure consistent GDPR adherence across the organization.

  • Transparency Measures – embedding openness about data handling to strengthen user trust.

  • Staff Training & Workshops – equipping employees with the knowledge to integrate best practices for data protection into daily work.

Key Results / Achievments

Full GDPR compliance across systems and processes.
A structured framework for responsible and ethical data handling.
Stronger customer trust through transparent communication about data use.

Aalborg Institute for Development’s Role

As the SMV:Digital supplier, AID delivered strategic guidance, vulnerability assessments, and training programs. Our role was to balance legal requirements with operational needs, ensuring that compliance strengthened rather than slowed down the platform’s growth.
