Designed to introduce educators to the core principles of the Danish education model. It focuses on practical methods for applying student-centered and problem-based learning in the classroom, helping teachers foster critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world problem solving among their students.

This 5-day intensive course introduces you to the Danish approach to teaching, rooted in student-centered and problem-based learning (PBL). Discover how to foster active participation, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving skills in your learners.
The course focuses particularly on student-centered lesson designs and PBL, which is a cornerstone of Danish education where learners tackle real-world, open-ended challenges collaboratively. Participants will work hands-on with tools for planning and delivering PBL (including defining learning outcomes, facilitating open-ended engagement with complex problems, encouraging critical and creative thinking, and organizing group-work).
By the end of this course, participant will be able to:
Understand core principles of student-centered and problem-based teaching and identify how these principles are relevant to their own subject/learner group.
Design a manageable PBL learning sequence connected to real-world practice (including selection of topic, structure, milestones, facilitation of group-work).
Apply and experiment with teacher “mentor” techniques that support autonomy, critical thinking, collaboration, and reflection during projects.
Build assessment tools for evaluating problem-based learning in practice.
During the first day, you will be introduced to the core principles and methods of problem-based learning. You will explore the relevance of PBL within your own teaching context and subject area through discussions with peers. The day includes an overview of why PBL matters, presentations of successful case examples, and opportunities for group discussions and experience sharing. You will also begin identifying concrete opportunities to apply PBL in your own subject area.
During the second day, the focus shifts to planning and structuring a PBL learning sequence. You will work on defining appropriate learning outcomes and explore how to engage students in solving complex and open-ended problems. The session also addresses how to structure a full PBL sequence and adapt it to different teaching contexts. In addition, you will take part in a practical exercise by enacting a short PBL session in small groups.
During the third day, attention is given to the role of the teacher as a facilitator. You will explore techniques for mentoring and guiding students while encouraging them to take greater responsibility for their learning. The day includes discussions on fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and reflection, as well as workshops on effective group-work facilitation. You will also participate in role-play exercises to practice mentoring techniques in realistic PBL scenarios.
During the fourth day, the focus is on transferring PBL principles into your own teaching practice. You will work on developing a concrete implementation plan tailored to your context. The session also includes discussions on peer support among teachers and how to sustain the use of PBL over time. Finally, you will review practical examples of how other educators have successfully introduced PBL into their teaching for the first time.
The final day focuses on reflection and integration of the learning outcomes. Participants review their progress, exchange peer and trainer feedback, and discuss future development goals. The course concludes with certificate distribution and a closing networking session.

Our courses are designed as an intensive 5-day learning experience where participants fully engage in professional development, collaboration, and international exchange. Each day combines structured training sessions, interactive workshops, and practical exercises that reflect real classroom challenges. Participants also have opportunities to connect with educators from different countries.
Our training approach focuses on hands-on learning rather than theory. Sessions are built around workshops, real-life scenarios, and task-based activities that allow participants to experiment with new tools and teaching methods. Teachers actively practice what they learn and receive feedback from trainers and peers throughout the course.
Participants stay in comfortable accommodation in Aalborg, providing a convenient and welcoming environment throughout the course. Staying together also creates additional opportunities for networking, informal discussions, and exchange of experiences between educators from different countries.
Participants leave the course with practical strategies, teaching tools, and resources they can immediately apply in their classrooms. Whether learning about AI tools, communication techniques, or student-centred learning approaches, the focus is on solutions that are directly transferable to everyday teaching practice.
At the end of the course, participants receive a certificate of attendance documenting their participation and learning outcomes. Upon request, we can also provide a Europass Mobility certificate and support with Learning Agreement documentation, making the course fully compatible with Erasmus+ staff mobility requirements.
