Why this Project Matters

Our Approach

The project is organized into three key work packages:

  • 🔎 Research and Data Collection
    • Literature review on labor migration and vocational education in DK, FI, LT.
    • Policy repository mapping frameworks and best practices.
    • Direct engagement with migrant workers and stakeholders.
  • 📊 Analysis and Policy Formulation
    • Identifying structural barriers preventing education and career access.
    • Comparative study of best practices and policy models across the region.
    • Developing evidence-based recommendations.
  • 📑 Reporting and Validation
    • Drafting and refining a comprehensive policy report.
    • Stakeholder validation meetings in Denmark, Finland, and Lithuania.

Final policy report with actionable recommendations.

Aalborg Institute for Development’s Role

As the coordinator, the Aalborg Institute for Development (AID) leads the project. AID is responsible for research design, coordination of data collection, and development of the policy report. In Denmark, AID ensures strong stakeholder involvement — from labor organizations to vocational education providers — and drives dissemination at both national and regional levels.

Looking Ahead

Over the next year, Career Compass will deliver data-driven insights and practical policy solutions to improve opportunities for young migrant workers. By the end of the project, governments, institutions, and NGOs will have access to clear, actionable recommendations to foster a more inclusive and skilled labor market in the Nordic-Baltic region.
