Women in VET Building Inclusive Pathways for the Next Generation of Technical Talent

Women in VET – Building Inclusive Pathways for the Next Generation of Technical Talent

Across Europe, the demand for skilled professionals in technical and industrial fields continues to grow — yet women remain significantly underrepresented in areas like engineering, manufacturing, construction, and IT. This isn’t just a skills gap. It’s a missed opportunity for innovation, diversity, and equal access to the careers shaping Europe’s future.

Our new Erasmus+ project, “Bridging the Gender Gap in VET: Inclusive Pathways for Women in Technical and Industrial Sectors,” was created to change that. Check al project details here.

Empowering Women Through Education & Opportunity

Instead of viewing technical VET fields as traditionally “male-dominated,” the project challenges this narrative by building inclusive spaces where women can confidently learn, grow, and succeed. Through a combination of educator training, mentorship, and inspiring real-life role models, we aim to transform both classrooms and mindsets.

Educators will gain gender-sensitive teaching tools; institutions will receive practical guidelines for inclusivity; and young women will access a new ecosystem of support that encourages them to pursue — and thrive in — high-demand technical careers.

From Awareness to Action

At the heart of the project is a commitment to real change. We’re not just raising awareness; we’re creating practical pathways:

  • Training VET educators in inclusive methods and supportive mentoring

  • Launching a Women Ambassador Programme to highlight inspiring female role models in industry

  • Developing multilingual toolkits and resources to help schools and institutions promote gender equality in technical VET

This approach ensures that inclusion isn’t an abstract goal — it’s a set of actionable tools that educators and institutions can use immediately.

A Collaborative European Effort

This challenge is shared across Europe, and solving it requires diverse perspectives and strong partnerships. That’s why we’re proud to collaborate with:

  • COOPETAPE (Portugal) 🇵🇹

  • IKASLAN Bizkaia (Spain) 🇪🇸

  • Aalborg Institute for Development (AID) (Denmark) 🇩🇰

Together, we’re working to build a VET ecosystem where gender does not limit potential and where more women can access meaningful, future-ready careers.

Why This Matters Now

As industries evolve, Europe needs all its talent — not just half of it. Empowering women in VET strengthens the workforce, enriches innovation, and supports a more equal society. By creating inclusive pathways today, we’re shaping a more balanced and competitive Europe for tomorrow.

Looking Ahead

Over the coming months, the project will share:

  • Stories of inspiring women in VET

  • Research insights and practical guidelines

  • Workshops, events, and opportunities to get involved

  • Progress on our mentorship and ambassador programmes

👉 Follow our journey as we work toward a future where women have equal access to every pathway in technical and industrial education.

💪 Together, we’re bridging the gender gap — one empowered learner at a time.
